World Health Day 2020: Universal Health Coverage - Everyone, Everywhere
Geschreven op 18-2-2008 - Erik van Erne. Geplaatst in Agenda, Gezondheid, Iets anders, Int. Samenwerking6 April 2019: Universal health coverage (UHC) is about ensuring all people and communities have access to quality health services where and when they need them, without suffering financial hardship.
It includes the full spectrum of services needed throughout life—from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care—and is best based on a strong primary health care system.
World Health Day 2020 is on Tuesday 7 April 2020.
6 April 2018 - Today is the first day of issue of stamps to commemorate World Health Day and the seventieth anniversary of WHO. The stamps issued by the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) are messengers of peace.
Human rights, the environment, endangered species and peace are all subjects of universal concern to the peoples of the world. And so is universal health coverage, this year’s World Health Day theme.
April 7 of each year marks the celebration of World Health Day. From its inception at the First Health Assembly in 1948 and since taking effect in 1950, the celebration has aimed to create awareness of a specific health theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization.
Over the past 50 years this has brought to light important health issues such as mental health, maternal and child care, and climate change. The celebration is marked by activities which extend beyond the day itself and serves as an opportunity to focus worldwide attention on these important aspects of global health.
World Health Day’s message is simple: giving people access to healthcare without the prospect of financial hardship. This is regardless of where they’re from; they could be in Africa, Asia, South America or the United States. What matters to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the group behind it, is that there’s Health for All.
It has its reasons, too. The WHO asserts, following countless studies, that countries which invest in universal healthcare will make a sound investment in their human capital; indeed, access to a very bottom line of care and financial protection will not only truly improve someone’s health and life expectancy, but also protects countries from epidemics, reduces poverty and the risk of hunger, creates jobs, drives economic growth and enhances gender equality.
18 februari 2008: Maandag 7 april is het World Health Day 2008.
