31 december 2011: Mooi werk weer van The Big Picture. Met fantastische foto’s wordt het jaar 2011 treffend in beeld gebracht. Zie: The year 2011 in photographs part 1 – 2011, the year in photographs part 2 en 2011, the year in photographs part 3
Ook bij The New York Times weer een mooie serie foto’s over 2011: 2011: The Year in Picturesen de Wall Street Journal kan uiteraard niet achterblijven: Photos of the Year-2011. Uiteraard mag deze serie niet ontbreken: Pictures of The Year 2011 by BBC News. ook LIFE kwam met een mooie serie foto’s: 2011’s Pictures of the Year. Kwam ook nog wat aardige foto’s tegen bij 990px: Part 1, Part 2 en Part 3 en bij Buzzfeed was er deze serie: The 45 Most Powerful Images Of 2011. Als afsluiter is er uiteraard nog de World Press Photo van 2011.
Tuurlijk zijn er ook weer de Top 10 lijstjes. Most watched and searched for on YouTube in 2009
This year has been the biggest yet for online video, and for the first time we’re sharing our official Most Watched lists and some of the fastest-rising search terms on YouTube. Some moments were big (President Obama’s inauguration), some small (a Minnesota wedding party erupts into dance), some expected (“New Moon”), some surprising (Susan Boyle) — but all of them inspired, entertained and connected millions of people around the world via YouTube.
For these lists, we looked at view counts of YouTube’s most popular videos (in some instances we aggregated views across multiple versions of the same video):
Most Watched YouTube videos (Global):
1. Susan Boyle – Britain’s Got Talent (120+ million views)
2. David After Dentist (37+ million views)
3. JK Wedding Entrance Dance (33+ million views)
4. New Moon Movie Trailer (31+ million views)
5. Evian Roller Babies (27+ million views)
Most Watched music videos on YouTube (Global)*:
1. Pitbull – I Know You Want Me (82+ million views)
2. Miley Cyrus – The Climb (64+ million views)

Then, to determine the fastest rising search terms for each month, we examined the billions of queries that people searched for on YouTube (through December 15):

“Global warming” and “climate change” are the top phrases of the decade
The Austin-Texas-based Global Language Monitor (GLM) has been tracking and analyzing words in one form or another since 1994. This year, the GLM surveyed the media and the Internet to find the top terms of the decade from 2000 to 2009. “Global warming” and “climate change” came out at #1 on two lists.
