World Premiere in New York: Last Rainforest in Coastal Ecuador by Third Millennium Alliance
Geschreven op 7-9-2010 - Erik van Erne. Geplaatst in Agenda, NatuurThird Millennium Alliance (3MAlliance) is a nonprofit Ecosystem Services organization working to preserve and rehabilitate the planet’s lifeline.
Their focus is the restoration of critically endangered ecosystems of exceptionally high biological value. The basis of the work is a dual approach that integrates conservation of intact forest with reforestation of previously-degraded land. The Choco-Manabi Corridor in western Ecuador - one of the most ecologically-diverse and endangered ecosystems on the planet - is the area of operations. 3MAlliance’s Jama-Coaque Reserve protects one of the last remnants of rainforest and cloudforest in this global biodiversity hotspot.
World Premiere for the 38-minute film documentary “The Last Rainforest in Coastal Ecuador” is being held in Brooklyn, New York on September 8th, 2010. The event will be held at the Brooklyn Ecopolis Sustainable Resource Center, at 180 Smith St. (2nd Floor) in Cobble Hill. For attendees taking the subway, take the F or G train to Bergen St. and walk two blocks. Light refreshments will be served. The event starts at 7pm. Anyone interested is invited to attend.
New Species Discovered: Paul S. Hamilton, the foremost herpetologist for western Ecuador, reports the discovery of one snake and 30 new species of rain frog in the Jama-Coaque Reserve and neighboring forest remnants.
