Wild Russia The Secret Forest: The Far-East Ussuriland Region of Russia
Geschreven op 19-5-2014 - Erik van Erne. Geplaatst in NatuurAn amazing documentary on the secret and unknown forest of Russia with many animals of the far-east Ussuriland region of Russia.
While Asiatic black bears hang from the trees and chipmunks search for food, the spotted sika deer travels to the coast to supplement its diet with kelp.
The presence of deer on this open ground attracts the region’s big predator, the Amur tiger. But the largest cat in the world has dangerous enemies itself: poaching and habitat destruction are an ever-present threat to tigers in the Ussuriland region of Russia.
The Russian Far East, known as the “northern jungle”, is one of the world’s most interesting natural regions. It is famous for the unique mixture of species typical to the northern taiga and southern subtropics, which reside in the same neighborhood. The region possesses the highest flora and fauna diversity in Russia, as well as a great number of endemic and rare species. It is the primary habitat for the Amur tiger, Far Eastern Leopard, Himalayan Black Bear, Amur Goral, Blakiston’s Fish Owl, Red-crowned Crane, White-naped Crane, Hooded Crane, Scaly Merganser and many other animals.
