Lindsey Coffey, age 28, was a successful college track athlete and completed a pre-law curriculum at Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science before entering a successful modeling career in New York and other major cities around the world. She plans to continue her goal to pursue law school following her year as Miss Earth.
Following the announcement Coffey said, “I joined the Miss Earth sisterhood to become a voice, to inspire, and to make a difference in our world. Now is that opportunity.
As now is the time for action. Now is the time to be more than your country. We are not just citizens of our nation. We are citizens of the world, and once we start to view one another as such, we will always find success. As your Miss Earth, that is the legacy I will leave behind me.”
Nguyen Phuong Khanh from Vietnam was crowned Miss Earth 2018 at the finale on November 3 in Manila, the Philippines. Khanh is the first Vietnamese to win the title. Born in 1994, the 1.71m tall beauty from Ben Tre province, weighs 51 kg, and measures 90-58-94. She is pursuing a degree in marketing at Curtin University, Singapore. Khanh will graduate in early 2019.
Nguyen won after telling her fellow millennials to stop using social media and technology for vanity purposes and “transform the world” in the pageant’s question-and-answer round. She advocates for maintaining and preserving Vietnam’s rivers and forests as her country “transforms itself into an industrialized nation,”
Melissa Flores of Mexico was named Miss Earth Fire, Colombia’s Valeria Ayos as Miss Earth Water and Austria’s Melanie Mader as Miss Earth Air.
5 December 2010: Nicole Faria (20) from India beat 84 contestants across the world to win Miss Earth 2010 title in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam.
Miss India, Nicole Faria was announced as Miss Earth 2010, taking over the reign of Larissa Ribeiro Ramos, Miss Earth 2009.
Unlike other pageants, there was no “runner-up” in that sense.Instead the titles of Miss Earth-Air, Miss Earth-Water and Miss Earth-Fire are bestowed on the next three contestants. Tonight, the titles went to Miss Ecuador, Jennifer Pazmiño, Miss Thailand, Watsaporn Wattanakoon and Miss Puerto Rico, Yeidy Bosques, respectively.

10 October 2010: Vietnam, the home of the Miss Earth Pageant as it celebrates its 10th year this 2010. The Miss Earth competition conveys a clear, relevant message: the need to protect the earth and its environment. Vietnam’s hosting of the 10th Miss Earth pageant was officially announced during a press conference held at the White Palace in Ho Chi Minh City on August 25. Miss Earth 2010 will officially start on November 4.
The month-long event will include exciting activities in Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Hoi An and other locations. Besides the environmental activities, the candidates will have a national costume show, swimsuit and evening competitions.
The finale and coronation show is scheduled to take place on saturday December 4th 2010 at Vinpearl Land, Nha Trang. With a seating capacity of 5,000, spectacular stage, ideal location and modern infrastructure, Vinpearlland Amphitheatre has been chosen as the venue of Miss Earth 2010 Coronation Night.
The Miss Earth 2010 Coronation Night will be held at 8:00 to 10:00 in the evening on December 4, 2010; and will be televised on international and local channels such as Star World, VTV (VTV1 and VTV4), ABS-CBN Philippines and other local networks from over 50 countries.
The Coronation Night will be fastidiously organized by the highly professional credits from Carousel Production of Miss Earth Pageant and leading Vietnamese professionals. The participation of 86 beautiful maidens from all over the world, the performances of Vietnamese and international celebrities will definitely make Miss Earth Coronation Night become a night of World Art and Beauty -a convergence to honor Mother Earth.
Larissa Ribiero Ramos (photo) from Manaus in Amazonas, Brazil was crowned as the 9th Miss Earth winner in the island of Boracay last November 22, 2009. Born February 4, 1989, she is currently a Biology student at Universidade Federal do Amazonas (UFAM).
As the present Miss Earth titleholder, Larissa is busy promoting environmental campaigns for Miss Earth Foundation and various environmental groups worldwide.
Established in 2004, Miss Earth Foundation is a non-stock, non-profit organization which ably serves as the environmental-social-humanitarian outreach arm of the Miss Earth organization worldwide.
With its dedication to propagate environmental awareness and initiate changes with small and big impacts, Miss Earth winners, as well as delegates, become spokespersons and role models using their influence to send the urgent messages across.
Headed by Executive Director Cathy Untalan, Miss Earth Foundation, works with the local and international groups and non-governmental organizations that are also actively involved in worthwhile environmental causes such as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Miss Earth 2010: Best in National Costume Award won by Miss Japan
Japan’s Marina Kishira was declared winner of the Miss Earth 2010 National Costume competition during the event held in Phan Thiet on Saturday.
The rest of the top 5 ladies were the contestants from Mexico, Brazil, South Africa and Ecuador. Miss Japan, who was also named Miss Sea Links City, takes home a prize of USD 5,000.00.
Marina wore a modern gown with an intricate design at the back mimicking the Japanese Art of Tattooing or Irezumi. Irezumi is a traditional Japanese art. Oukoshisei regards tattooing as an art form, expressing the greatness and the beauty of tattoos.
“This is my costume, it was inherited to me. I wore it to bring hope and to show a different world for the modern Japanese women -who are not only associated with kimono costume.”, Miss Japan said.
She was surprised by her victory that night, and she wanted to convey the images of Japan’s blooming fresh flowers and murmuring water flows with it.
“With this victory, I was able to show a new culture of our country to the world. I do not think I would win or lose, but I am surprised and was proud prior to winning. This award as well as my luck is for Japan and the significance of this outfit.”, she added.

Miss Earth 2010: Tree Planting and Parade at Phan Thiet
Miss Earth 2009 Larissa Ramos and the Miss Earth 2010 candidates participated in tree planting activity along Mui Ne beach, as part of the environmental protection of the international beauty event.
With knowledge and concern for the environment, the contestants participate in the activity with professionalism and dedication, under a sunny Phan Thiet sunny morning.
The contestants also had a street parade in Phan Thiet. Enthusiastic local residents and international visitors enthusiasticaly gave cheers and welcome to the most beautiful women in the world.

Miss Ecuador Earth wins Long Gown Award
The environmental delegates of Miss Earth 2010 paraded in their beautiful long gowns in the special events competition, Best in Long Gown.
The top five delegates in Best in Long Gown were Misses Venezuela, Brazil, Thailand, Czech Republic and Ecuador.
Miss Ecuador Earth, Jennifer Stephanie Pazmino Saldana emerged victorious as the Best in Long Gown.
She was awarded a sash, plaque and a US$30,000. necklace studded with semi-precious stones and diamond from sponsor, PNJ Jewellers of Vietnam.
A special Ao dai competition was also held on the same night and Miss Serbia Tijana Rakic was chosen as the Miss Earth delegate who wore her Ao dai, Vietnam’s national costume, the best among the participants in Ao dai costumes.
The long gown and Ao Dai competitions were held at the Diamond Bay in Nha Trang on November 18.

Miss Earth 2010: Miss Vietnam Earth Tops Swimsuit Bikini Contest
NLuu Thi Diem Huong from the host Vietnam won the first prize in the bikini contest at the Miss Earth 2010 pageant in the central province of Phu Yen on November 20.
Huong won the title of “Miss Cendelux Hotel”, one of the official titles of the pageant.
The contest attracted the participation of 80 beauties from nations and territories around the world.
Huong said she was very proud to win her prize and will do her best to deserve the title, especially through making active contribution to environmental protection.
The pageant’s organizing board granted certificates to the contest’s top five beauties. First place was for Miss Vietnam Luu Thi Diem Huong
Followed by Miss Ecuador Jennifer Stephanie Pazmino, Miss Venezuela Maria Angela Boannni, Miss Czech Republic Carnen Justova and Miss Norway Iman Kerigo.
The board also granted VND500 million to Phu Yen’s People’s Committee to support flood victims and provided 10 flood-hit families with VND15 million each.
