The Green Week Conference 2010: Only One Earth, don’t waste it !

30 mei 2010: Geweldig hoor. De Europese Green Week 2010 gaat weer van start. Het is maar een kort weekje van 1 tot en met 4 juni 2010. In die week, zo is de bedoeling, wordt er overal aandacht besteed aan één onderwerp. Dit jaar uiteraard biodiversiteit want het is het International Year of Biodiversity.

Verder blijft zoals gebruikelijk vrij onduidelijk wat we nou echt gaan doen aan die biodiversiteit of wat breder: aan het behouden van onze aarde. This year, the largest annual conference on European environment policy turns the spotlight on biodiversity. Over some 30 sessions, the conference will address the state of biodiversity and nature in Europe and the world, the benefits they bring, present-day pressures on them, and possible solutions to the current rates of loss.
The path to be taken by EU policies on biodiversity and nature policies post-2010, the economic dimension of biodiversity, ecosystem services and Natura 2000 will also be investigated. These are some of the many questions Green Week 2010 will examine in three days of discussion and debate between high-level speakers from Europe and beyond. Green Week is a unique opportunity for exchanges of experience and good practice. Some 3 800 participants are expected from EU institutions, business and industry, non-governmental organisations, public authorities, the scientific community and academia. Bron: EU

24 mei 2008: Van 3 tot en met 6 juni staat de Green Week op het programma van de Europese Commissie. Tijdens de Green Week vinden er tal van conferenties plaats met als belangrijkste doel het inventariseren van mogelijkheden en het vinden van nieuwe routes naar een duurzame Europese samenleving.
