Greening the Blue: United Nations Going for Climate Neutral

Greening the Blue has been nominated for ‘Best Website’ by the judges of the IVCA Clarion Awards
The IVCA – the International Visual Communications Association - is a not-for-profit membership organization representing the creators and commissioners of multimedia projects for the corporate and public sectors. Each year, the organization hosts the prestigious Clarion Awards which celebrate communications that promote CSR, diversity, sustainability, community development and health issues in the public, social enterprise, charity and corporate sectors. Greening the Blue has been nominated under the ‘Websites’ category.
Greening the Blue was launched on World Environment Day 2010. The website was launched in response to the call from the Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon for all UN agencies, funds and programmes to become climate neutral and ‘go green’ and the site shows what’s been achieved, what’s happening next and how staff can get involved. The website has been developed on behalf of the Sustainable United Nations team, part of the United Nations Environment Programme and was designed and built by the digital agency Enable Interactive.

Greening the Blue has won an IVCA Clarion Award 2010 for ‘Best Website’.
IVCA – the International Visual Communications Association – exists “to promote effective business and public service communications of the highest ethical and professional standards”. Their Clarion Award Scheme was established in 2003 to support social inclusion, CSR, sustainable development and ethical debate. Greening the Blue won the award for Best Website in the Public Sector Category.

UN.org - the main website for the UN system - launched a new web-page on its sustainability performance.
The new web-page, which is currently available in English and French, provides information on the UN Climate Neutral Strategy and progress on its implementation. The sustainability page reflects the outcome of the last meeting of the UN Communications Group, at which the UN Directors of Communication committed to support Greening the Blue (the UN’s outreach programme for a sustainable UN) and confirm the inclusion of “sustainability” pages we on every UN organization and specialized agency website.

Greening the Blue launches photo competition for World Environmental Day - WED 2011
