Tulppaani Wind Turbine: An Art Work Inspired by the Tulip Flower
Geschreven op 7-2-2011 - Erik van Erne. Geplaatst in Energie en BesparingTulppaani is more likely an architectural element than a conventional wind power station. It is a wind turbine and a fountain at the same time.
The aim was to create a sort of meeting point in the city which would unobtrusively promote renewable sources of energy which are all around us.
The shape of the turbine is inspired by the tulip flower. It “grows” from the water pond and smoothly twists towards the bottom. The turbine ensures pumping and circulation of the water in the basin and at the same time it generates electricity.
At the first glance it is not evident whether the whole object is driven by the falling water in the centre or by the force of the wind. At night the generated electricity is used for lightening of the whole object.
Thanks to the use of tricoloured LED and optic fibres Tulppaani can smoothly change its colour and create a distinct atmosphere. Source: Kuckir
