De Hybride BYD F6DM en de Full Electric BYD e6 uit China

Uit China van BYD: de hybride sedan voor de Amerikaanse markt, de F6DM. Voor het eerst te zien in Detroit.

De F6DM, waarbij DM staat voor dual mode, heeft een conventionele verbrandingsmotor en een elektromotor. Met volgeladen accupakket kan de auto volgens de Chinese fabrikant ongeveer 100 kilometer ver komen op louter elektrische kracht. Daarna springt de verbrandingsmotor bij om om het accupakket op te laden.

Volgens BYD zijn de accu´s in 10 minuten weer voor de helft vol. De F6DM gaat dit jaar nog in China in de verkoop. Bron: BusinessWeek en Autoweek

   BYD aims for 100 E6 electric taxis by end of month, 560 by year’s end, 1,500 in total

   BYD hopes to have at least 100 E6 taxis tooling around the roads of Shenzhen, China by month’s end, but the plans for electric taxi domination don’t end there. BYD wants 560 of the electric chauffeur mobiles on the roads by the end of the year and sets the ultimate goal at 1,500 taxis. If BYD hits this magic number, then the company will have successfully electrified ten percent of the city’s taxi fleet.

   Europe’s first BYD e6 shows up in the Netherlands: Project 75-EV-RO

   Netherlands Prince Maurits van Oranje drives the BYD e6 BYD and Rotterdam (the second-largest city in the Netherlands) have entered into a binding agreement that calls for the Chinese automaker to deliver an undisclosed number of its electric e6 crossovers as part of the Netherlands green transportation initiative dubbed “75-EV-RO.” Under the 75-EV-RO project, the government of Rotterdam is looking to purchase 75 alternative energy vehicles.    2000 Electric BYD e6 Taxis for Montreal, Canada

   Taxi service in Montreal, Canada, just got better as 50 all-electric BYD e6 taxis began service. These are the first arrivals of an expected 2,000-vehicle BYD fleet.

   Montreal is the province’s largest city, and these “Montreal-style” vehicles are expected to hit the roads over the next two years. “We are very excited to be in Quebec,” said Ted Dowling, vice president of BYD Canada.

   The vehicles have a range of up to 400 km (248 miles), which makes them more efficient than the Kia Soul or Nissan Leaf.
