TEDxFlanders 2010: Biomodd Art, gaming and ecology by Angelo Vermeulen
Geschreven op 7-11-2010 - Erik van Erne. Geplaatst in Communicatie, DesignTEDxFlanders is enormously proud to present Angelo Vermeulen, if only for the fact that he’s currently the first and only Belgian TED fellow.
Considering that these fellows are “the next generation of innovators who have demonstrated remarkable accomplishment and outstanding potential to positively affect the world”, our enthusiasm should not be a surprise.
Originally a PhD Biologist, Angelo has expanded into the visual arts, while continuously retaining a link to the world of living things. One of his recent projects is called Biomodd, which is – simply put – a worldwide series of cross-cultural, symbiotic installations in which social interaction, ecology, and game culture converge. It’s one of those projects you have to see to understand. It’s also one of those projects that gets you invited to the ESA, for input on their MELiSSA life support division. Angelo is a “TEDster pur sang”: remarkable ideas and an enormous drive and enthusiasm to push them forward.
