December 29 2010: Pop star Shakira will make her debut in China on New Year’s Eve.
Jiangsu satellite TV, located in Nanjing, East China’s Jiangsu Province announced officially that Shakira will join in the New Year’s Eve concert on December 31.
Shakira will sing three songs in the New Year’s Eve Concert including “Waka Waka” (“This Time for Africa”), the official song for the 2010 FIFA world cup. In addition, the hot Latin dancer will teach the audience to dance “Waka Waka” at the concert.
May 5 2010: Yep, it’s official. FIFA and Sony have chosen Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) as the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The song was written by Shakira, the world-famous singer from Latin America, who will perform with South African band Freshlyground. Source: FIFA

This is the South African 2010 World Cup Song everybody is talking about. FIFA and SAFA has not backed this song as yet, so we have decided to take this song to the people. The song is called “Stand As One”.

Zangalewa – the original song from which Waka Waka borrows chorus
Zangalewa is a Cameroonian song. It is sometimes called Zamina undermined by the first words.
It is part of the repertoire of soldiers, but also groups of young and Scout, throughout Africa. Its rhythm is catchy and it can serve as song march. It has been re made as the theme song for the FIFA world cup in South Africa featuring Shakira. It is a great honor considering the fact that Cameroon is the best soccer nation in Africa and is a great world cup hopeful.

Mango en Shakira ontwerpen WK T-shirts voor het Goede Doel
Modeketen Mango heeft samen met zangeres Shakira een t-shirtcollectie ontworpen die volledig is geïnspireerd op het WK en de FIFA World Cup Song Waka Waka. Het is de bedoeling om consumenten bewust te maken van de problemen in Zuid-Afrika.
De vier T-shirts, twee voor vrouwen en twee voor mannen, tonen de kracht, vitaliteit en energie van Afrika. Uiteraard met mooie teksten als Waka Waka en This time for Africa. De opbrengst van de verkoop gaat naar projecten in het onderwijs in Zuid-Afrika, in samenwerking met Unicef en Shakira’s eigen organisatie Barefoot Foundation.
