International Automotive Congress 2011

Automotive Technology Centre – ATC and HTAS Automotive Innovation jointly organize the 8th International Automotive Congress on Technology and Innovation in close cooperation with Eindhoven, University of Technology (TU/e) and the Strategic Platform for Intelligent Traffic Systems -SPITS.

This high-profile conference during the Automotive Week 2011 attracts over 450 professionals, discussing future automotive technologies and industrial challenges. The Dutch cities of Eindhoven and Helmond will serve as an open podium for the international automotive sector to display and demonstrate the latest technologies. Automotive professionals are invited to attend scientific lectures, while experiencing state-of-the-art automotive technology at live vehicle demonstrations. With over 40 keynote and parallel presentations and a large exhibition, this event has gained a prominent position in the agenda of the automotive sector.

It is clear that the demand for personal mobility will continue to increase, while at the same time, the pressure from society to reduce the environmental impact of vehicles is intensifying. The main solution lies in engineering technology. The main theme for the 2011 edition of the International Automotive Congress on 16 and 17 May 2011 at the University of Technology, Eindhoven, The Netherlands is: Future Powertrains & Smart Mobility

This means providing engineers with the knowledge and insights they need to develop cleaner, safer vehicles in ways which meet the needs of drivers and society on a profitable basis. It involves helping engineers to navigate through the many promising advances in conventional and alternative power train technologies which will help the automotive industry to continue reducing the CO2 emissions from road transportation. It also involves understanding the radical transformation taking place in today’s global industry, where emerging markets demand vehicles tailored for local needs, and even the creation of new vehicle categories. The division of labor between vehicle manufacturers and suppliers changes all the time, posing new challenges for collaboration and logistics throughout the whole supply chain.

The automotive industry today is about much more than just vehicles. Smart Mobility will also require the deployment of state-of-the-art intelligent transportation systems for efficient traffic control, utilizing the latest car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure communications technologies. Our philosophy in organizing this Congress is that we are no longer simply in the business of making cars – but of providing Smart Mobility to meet the needs of people everywhere. The International Automotive Congress is the best way for engineers and executives to come together to share technical knowledge and meet the challenges facing the automotive industry.
