Guinness World Record: A Giant Helmet Made of Recycled Plastic Helmets
Geschreven op 23-9-2010 - Erik van Erne. Geplaatst in Afval, DesignAnother largest sculpture ever made of recycled materials. Unveiled on April 28, 2010 in Huelva (Spain). 3,283 yellow helmets gleamed proudly in the Andalucian sun.
The sculptor, Rafael Melida and his team had spent 1,239 hours on this project during 3 months. All the plastic helmets were made with recycled plastic especially for this sculpture (ok, it’s recycling, but not “post-consumer”).
They had been diligently ordered and then soldered onto a metal frame by the team of sculptors after students at the Univeristy of Huelva aided the collection of all these helmets.
Measuring 10.4 m x 7.8 m x 6.1 m the sculpture easily exceeded the Guinness World Records imposed minimum of 5 m x 5 m x 5 m for this new record category. Source: Recyclart
