Social Network

Insider info: The film isn’t about how to get more friends but centers on the brilliant Harvard students whose online socializing changed the world.

The film revolves around Mark Zuckerberg (Eisenberg), who started Facebook from his dorm room and then became a billionaire. Then there are his friends, including Eduardo Saverin (Garfield), who got shoved to the side of his own bright idea. Meanwhile, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss (Armie Hammer and Josh Pence) claim all of this was their idea in the first place.

Can you say lawsuits? All of this became part of the 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich, which was optioned for a film and … the rest is history.

Dividends: It’s the leading contender for an awards season sweep, including writing honors for Aaron Sorkin, a directing nod for Fincher, a best picture nom and even a best supporting nod for Timberlake. FYI: The latter won’t just be getting sexy back, but might get some real acting cred for his role as the founder of Napster. Source: Sun Times

    Zuckerberg’s $100 Million Donation

Mark Zuckerberg, the 26-year-old Facebook founder and the biggest climber on this year’s Forbes 400, has just agreed to donate $100 million to Newark’s troubled public schools. The tech whiz kid is expected to appear on fellow Forbes billionaire Oprah Winfrey’s show tomorrow to announce the gift, alongside Newark Mayor Cory Booker and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

This is the first time Zuckerberg has made a large-scale public charitable donation. Today, the media’s attention has been piqued by both the timing and nature of the pledge, which amounts to $100 million in Facebook stock rather than cash. Read more at Forbes
